Class 5 Science Chapter 3- Matter @worldofworksheetswow8570
What is Matter?
- Matter is anything that has mass and takes up space.
- Everything around us, like water, air, and even our bodies, is made up of matter.
States of Matter:
- Solid: Has a fixed shape and volume (e.g., a rock, ice).
- Liquid: Has a definite volume but takes the shape of its container (e.g., water, milk).
- Gas: Has no fixed shape or volume and spreads out to fill the container (e.g., air, steam).
Properties of Matter:
- Mass: The amount of matter in an object.
- Volume: The space that matter occupies.
- Density: How much mass is packed into a given volume.
Changing States of Matter:
- Melting: Solid to liquid (e.g., ice melting).
- Freezing: Liquid to solid (e.g., water freezing into ice).
- Evaporation: Liquid to gas (e.g., water turning into steam).
- Condensation: Gas to liquid (e.g., steam turning into water).
Importance of Matter:
- Matter makes up everything in our world and is essential for life.
- Understanding matter helps us learn how things work and change around us.
